Class 2 had a fantastic trip to Grass Woods yesterday! It was great to get outdoors and discover fascinating science was all around us in the woods. We hunted for mini beasts and learnt how important their role was in decomposing all the dead leaves and woodland waste! We learnt how to look for the perfect spot for tree planting: including how to test the soil for its ph value and the canopy for its percentage of leaf/branch cover. We also spent time identifying trees, leaves and many other fascinating things you can find in the woods: when you stop to take a closer look!
Many many thanks to Rebecca Swift and her able team from Yorkshire Dales National Park for facilitating the trip: we hope to be able to link up with them across the federation again very soon and get out MORE!!
