School Meals

A healthy two course meal is cooked on site every day by our cook who works for North Yorkshire County Caterers.

Lunch is served in the Village Hall at 12:00 noon. This is seen as an important social occasion in the school day. The children sit in small ‘family’ groups to eat, with the oldest children taking responsibility for the care of the others on their tables. At least one lunch time supervisor with additional staff also looks after the children both at meal times and during lunch break.

The weekly dinner money is paid on the school’s ParentPay system in advance. School meals cost £12.50 per week (£2.50 per day). Payment may also be made half-termly or termly; amounts are advertised in the newsletter at the end of the previous term or on ParentPay.

Information about free school meals can be obtained via school or direct from: The Welfare Team, CYPS tel: 01609 533405 email: schoolwelfare@northyorks.gov.uk or via the North Yorkshire county website: www.northyorks.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals

Any parents who think they may be entitled to free school meals are encouraged to contact the school office where these enquiries will be dealt with in confidence.

In order to help with the administration and ordering, parents must inform School in writing, giving two full weeks’ notice, if a child is to change their lunchtime arrangements.

All children are provided with fruit for morning break, this is provided under the Government ‘Fruit for Schools’ scheme with additional funding being added from school funds.
