A Guide for New Parents

Choosing a school which will provide the best education for your child is one of the most important decisions that a parent has to make.

We are delighted to welcome prospective parents and pupils to come and find out more about our excellent school, meet the Head and have a look around to see what makes Cracoe & Rylstone Primary so very special.

We are a small, Christian school family where every child matters and is valued as an individual. We encourage everyone to develop their own talents and interests as well as become proficient in the basic key skills. We have high standards and are proud of our pupils’ achievements. The pupils benefit from co-operative working with our Upper Wharfedale cluster of 6 local schools and with Burnsall Primary, our collaboration school.

We enrich our curriculum through the provision of a variety of extra-curricular clubs and activities. We currently offer after-school Sports, School Band, French, Choir, Knitting and Gardening Clubs.

Further extended hours can be provided by the ‘Woosh’ after school club at Upper Wharfedale School, with transport provided from Cracoe to the club. There is also a summer school on our site run by one of school staff during several weeks in August.

We aim for each child to leave our school happy, fulfilled and well prepared for the next stage of their education. Pupils in our area are eligible to sit the Selection Tests for entry to the Skipton grammar schools (Ermysted’s for boys and Skipton Girl’s High School) in the Autumn term of Year 6. After Cracoe, many pupils also choose to attend Upper Wharfedale School.
